Get a life.
Hello and happy Monday! This is Susan Hyatt and it’s GO time.
This is the 111th episode in a series of GO mp3s to wake you up on your Monday morning and get you going.
In this episode I’m talking to all of your ambitious, goal-oriented, laser-focused women. I’ve got a question for you… do you need to get a life?

There’s a theme that’s been coming up a lot lately in my classes and programs, and with a lot of my clients.
The theme is… working nonstop and having zero fun.
Hmmm. Sound familiar? Then this episode is definitely for you.
Most of my clients are really ambitious. They’ve got big-ass goals. Business goals. Financial goals. All kinds of goals. And often, they become so laser-focused on their goals that they forget to… have a life!
I’ve got a question for you, dear listener at home:
What about you?
Do you need to… get a life?
What does a typical day look like for you?
Do you wake up, scroll through Instagram on your phone while you’re lying in bed, stuff a piece of toast in your mouth, sit down at your computer, type and work for 8-10 hours, then move in front of another screen to watch TV until it’s time for bed? And maybe you squeeze a yoga class in there, somewhere, possibly? Or maybe not?
Is that what your life looks like, most days? Is that your “dream life”? Probably not, right? But that kind of lifestyle is very common.
Most Americans spend 10 hours a day in front of some type of digital screen… a computer screen or a tablet or phone.
Half of Americans do not have a Passport and never travel abroad.
The average American works 47 hours per week–which equates to 6 full workdays, not 5. But even though everyone’s working nonstop, two-thirds of Americans intensely dislike their careers.
All of this is so depressing to me. We deserve so much better.
As far as we know… we get one life. Exactly ONE. And this is it.
Here is your challenge for this week:
GET A LIFE.
LOL. I mean it! I want you to get out of the house, visit a park, read a stack of magazines while you drink an iced coffee, ride your bicycle, go to a petting zoo and feed the goats, take yourself out for a nice meal, get a pedicure, take a walk with a friend… do SOMETHING, literally ANYTHING that sounds fun to you. I am begging you.
It’s great to stay focused on your professional goals. It’s great work hard.
But don’t hustle so hard that you forget to have a life.
This week, make pleasure a priority. Make fun a priority. Re-introduce yourself to the world that exists beyond your computer screen, the world that’s happening away from your desk. It’s a big world out there. So much to experience and savor. Soak it all in.
You’re here, in this body, with the privilege of this life. Don’t waste it.
It’s GO time.
