You know that spine-tingling feeling you get when you watch a movie trailer?
Wouldn’t you love to have that same feeling when it comes to your goals? Yes?
In today’s episode, I’m going to share why you should visualize a “movie trailer” for your goal.
Taking something you haven’t accomplished – yet! – and envisioning what it looks like is an excellent way to make sh*t happen.
Ready? It’s go time!
Whenever I have a fresh new goal I want to accomplish, I always envision the end result.
Let’s say I want to book a paid speaking gig at a high profile conference. I don’t just think about standing on the stage, or getting a “yes” from the event booker.
I fantasize about ALL of the details.
I think about crafting the perfect topic idea and pitch, scribbling ideas by candlelight.
I envision sending off that email, taking a deep breath, getting goosebumps as I wait for the reply.
I picture getting the “yes” – and how I celebrate it. I think about my outfit, my hair, my makeup, my speech, and my overall presentation.
I see myself walking onstage (preferably in slow motion with a wind machine because everyone needs one of those.) I see the standing ovation, the host handing me a bouquet of beautiful flowers. I see the post-event conversation, where they tell me that my presentation was an audience favorite and that they can’t wait to book me again for next year.
I think about all of these things in a movie trailer-type format. I even select a song to serve as the soundtrack and play it over and over again while I visualize what I want.
Whenever I think of these movie trailer moments, I ALWAYS create what I crave.
Visioning the “movie trailer” for your goals and looping that in your mind is an excellent way to get fired up and motivated to make it a reality.
When you visualize something in detail—as if it’s already happened—your brain spins it into a memory. It feels “real” – you can see it, touch it, taste it, smell it. Your goal becomes a sensory experience, which makes it easier to achieve.
If you’ve got a goal you want to accomplish this year, create that movie trailer moment in your mind.
Dream big. Make it as delicious as any movie trailer you see on screen.
Create what you crave… Hollywood blockbuster style.
