Remind Her That She Is Loved

Remind Her That She Is Loved

Happy Sunday, BOO!

A while back I got a message from a reader that broke my heart.
A worried mom who’s daughter was told she was “fat and shouldn’t eat carbs.”

This message broke my heart because I was that 12-year-old girl. That was me, staring at my thighs in the mirror and wondering, “Am I getting fat?”

And if I was getting fat, what did that mean? I was pretty sure it meant something terrible about me—that I was lazy, ugly, unlovable, unworthy. A disappointment. Disgusting.

I don’t want any girl or grown-up woman to feel that way. I don’t want my now-teenage daughter to feel that way. I don’t want yours to feel that way, either.

For all the parents out there, if you’ve been wondering, “How can I help my daughter to feel good about herself, to love her body, to build more self-esteem, and to recognize how amazing she is?”…

I’ve brought this back from the archives to share some things that you can do.

What if you could change a girl’s life in a positive way?

An astonishing 90% of women say that they don’t like their bodies. The self-criticism starts early.
Girls as young as 8 years old are dieting, feeling ashamed about their size.

You & I both know:
True beauty has nothing to do with your size.

The next time you meet a young girl…

Remind her that she is brilliant, creative, and valuable.

Remind her that she can become anyone she wants to be.

Remind her that she deserves the utmost care and respect.

Remind her that she is loved.

(Give yourself all of these same reminders, too.)

Your words might plant a small seed of self-trust and empowerment.

Your words could change her life.

PS— If this fires you up like it does me… you absolutely need to join the next round of BARE Coach certification— October 16th will be here before you know it! Be a part of the movement that’s helping girls + women stop dieting and break the cycle of body image issues… check it out.

It's Time

No more waiting. No more covering up.

No more Shrinking. No more Hiding.
